Social Justice Empowerment Department

(a) Identification of child labour : Mapping
.Conduct survey of street children
.Helping labour and education department for identification of out-of-school and migrant children
.Monthly review of the alternative schools runs in this regard
(b) Release and rescue of child labour
.Presenting rescued children before Child Welfare Committee
.Sending children to their families in other States or districts
.Rehabilitation of rescued children in available hostels / homes (exclusion from observation and special home)
.Ensuring that children are placed in an atmosphere conductive for their physical, social, mental and emotional development in children homes, providing training to concerned functionaries for the same
.Taking care of children immediately after raids.
.Cordinating non-formal education centers for street children with the help of NGOs and Education Department
.Providing night shelter to street children, in coordination Women and Child Development Department.
(c) Focus on migrant and street children
.Admitting the children of migrant workers in Balgruh, Balsadan or any other shelter home available near the working place of migrant workers
.Appointing a coordinator at district level in Women and Child Development Department so as to keep details of such children
.Instructing ticket checkers /collectors in railways so that they can inform about suspects of trafficking of children or about ‘run-away’ children to nearby Railway Police
.Inquiring these children and sending them back to their family with special escorts
.Providing night shelter to the street children and self employed children of the street
.Providing access to income generation opportunities to parents of child labourers such as preparing mid day meals or stitching of school uniform, etc.
.Help such parent for grants and loans facilities for self help groups and access market linkages to self help groups.
(d) Child labour monitoring
.Formation of joint monitoring team of NGOs, labour inspectors, Education Officer and influential people in the community to ensure education of all children in the community
.To identify Key Facilitators in each cluster/ward to monitor education of children, providing recognition to them.
(e) Awareness and social mobilization
.Obtain an undertaking while granting any licence/permission from the applicant to the effect that he/she should not engage child labour; in case of violation licence /permission shall be cancelled.
