Labour Department : Nodal Department

(a) Identification of child labour : Mapping
.Conduct survey of areas having probability of child labour including migrant children.
.Identifying child labour in prohibited occupations and processes.
.Identify of children in schools, but working part-time or migrating temporary.
.Surveillance of the establishment where there is information that child labour is being used.
(b) Release and rescue of child labour
.Organise raids in suspected establishments.
.Taking physical possession of children.
.Recovery of ‘payment of wages’ of the child from employer, for the period he worked.
.Preparing profile of rescued children.
.Examination of exact age of rescued children immediately after the raid.
.Helping Social Defence department for presenting rescued children before Child Welfare Committee.
.Helping Social Defence department in sending children to their families in other States or districts.
.Taking care of children during and immediately after raids, thereafter social Defence or CWC.
.Filing of FIR against employer with the help labour department.
.Appointment of Special Public Prosecutor.
.Filing case against employer under laws.
.Training of Task force members.
.Helping the Training Institute for train the master trainers and key Resources Persons with Module in Gujarat.
(c) Educational Rehabilitation of Rescue Children
.Information about rescued children to concerned District Education Officer about rehabilitation of these children.
.Annual Award of Rs. 1,00,000 for Gram Panchayat and Nagarpalika, which ensures child labour free village or city.
(d) Focus on Migrant child labour
.Information about rescued children to concerned state authority and parents/guardian.
.Repatriation of migrant child labour from other State.
.Interstate coordination for looking into the issue.
