Educational Rehabilitation of children

Education is one of the pillars of any action plan to eliminate child labour. Participation of children in work force either leads to total deprivation of schooling or puts multiple burdens of work and schooling on the child. Education being one of the richest sources of human capital formation, state level education policies needs to be designed in such a way that children are prevented from being drawn into the labour force. They also must be sensitive to those who have been removed from work. Education and effective enforcement clubbed together are the two important pillars of any successful child labour elimination strategy. There is a pressing need to increase the demand for education that can be addressed by tackling the access and quality issues. The elements of this intervention vary according to various types of children. These are as follows : -
.Rehabilitation of rescued Children in the age group 5-14
.Rehabilitation of Children who are out of school, not working but at risk of being engaged in work
.Vocational Education/up gradation for school dropouts and rescued child labourers in the age 14-17
