Prohibition of employment of children in certain occupations and processes

According to section 3 of the Act, no child shall be employed or permitted to work in any of the following occupations or in any workshop wherein any of the processes is carried on. The list of prohibited occupations and processes are as follows
Schedule – A (Prohibited Occupations) 14
.Transport of passengers, goods or mails by railway;
.Cinder picking, clearing of an ash, pit or building operation in the railway premises;
.
Work in a catering establishment at a railway station, involving the movement of a vendor or any other employee of the establishment from one platform to another or into or out of a moving train;
.
Work relating to the contrastrction of a railway station or with any other work where such work is done in close proximity to or between the railway lines;
.A port authority within the limits of any port.
.Work relating to selling of crackers and fireworks in shops with temporary licenses;
.Abattoirs/Slaughter House;
.Automobile workshops and garages;
.Foundries;
.Handling of toxic or inflammable substances or explosives;
.Handloom and power loom industry;
.Mines (underground and under water) and collieries;
.Plastic units and fiberglass workshops;
.Employment of children as domestic workers or servant; and
.
Employment of children in dhabas (road-side eateries), restaurants, hotels, motels, tea shops, resorts, spas or other recreation centers.
Employment any child below the age of 14 years in following processes is prohibited and punishable under the Act.
Schedule – B (Prohibited Processes)15
.Beedi-making.
.Cement manufacture, including bagging of cement.
.Carpet-weaving.
.Cloth printing, dyeing and weaving.
.Tanning.
.Manufacture of matches, explosives and fire-works.
.Shellac manufacture.
.Mica-cutting and splitting.
