This Act provides for the welfare of motor transport workers and to regulate the conditions of their work.

It extends to all Motor Transport undertakings employing less than 5 motor transport workers in the State of Gujarat(Gujarat amendment - dated 25-5-1989). A motor transport undertaking is the one engaged in carrying passengers or goods or both by road for hire or reward and includes private carrier.

Application in Form - I should be made for registration to the concerned Chief Inspector along with the prescribed fees.
