Vision and Mission

Vision
The state of gujarat enjoys the legacy of non-military of mahatma Gandhiji, the Father of the nation, and therefore the employers & employees trade union and NGO have a special vision for industrial peace in industrial growth and industrial peace in country. The people of state are law abiding and have in built discipline for complying the laws, in instant case the Labour laws.

Mission
Improvement of Labour Standards throughout the world is the basic aim of the international Labour Organisation (ILO). To accomplish its task, the ILO uses three complementary methods of work, setting international standards and supervising their observance, extending technical co-operation in the field in the member -state concluding research and collecting and disseminating information relevant to its activities. With this end in view, it adopts at its General Conference, international regulation known as International Labour Standards in the form of Conventions and Recommendations.

A 'Convention' is in the nature of a treaty which, if rectified, creates binding international obligations for the country concerned. The ratification of a Convention requires total compliance with all its provisions unless the Convention itself contains provisions to the contrary. On the other hand, a guide to national action may be implemented in parts and to the extent possible.

The ILO has adopted, in its seventy sessions held so far, 159 Conventions and 169 Recommendations. These encompass a vast span of subject which inter-alia include:

.Employment
.Social Policy
.Labour Administration
.Labour Relations
.Conditions of work
.Social Security
.Employment of Women
.Employment of Children
.Older Workers
.Migrant Workers
.Indigenous Workers and Tribal Population
.Workers in non-metropolitan countries
.Particular occupation sectors.
Vision & Mission
Such as seafarers, fishermen, dock workers, plantation workers, etc.

[Of the 188 Conventions adopted so far, India has ratified 40 Conventions based on these convention government of India has enacted various Labour Laws and]The main mission of the Labour Commissionerate, Gujarat state is to Comply the provision of all Labour laws & there by the Labour Standards laid down by International Labour Organization. In addition to this, State Labour machinery has a mission to reduce mandays loss and to increase the productivity of the state.
