Gujarat State, the first in India, has established an independent office of the Rural Labour Commissioner for the implementation of the Minimum Wages of the Agriculture Workers.

The meetings of the Heads of the Department under the administrative control of the Department with the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department and with the Dy. Secretaries every month as required are held to see whether the work is executed by the concerned Head of the Departments as per the Policy and Orders defined by the Government In which, the work and progress done by the Heads of the Departments are reviewed and required suggestions and guidance are given on the queries presented by the Heads of the Departments. Moreover, inspection of the offices of the Head of the Department and District level offices is held by the Department. Required guidance and especially required suggestions to make their method of working more and more useful to the people also are given. The Departmental Heads also inspect the Departmental and District Level Offices in the same manner and make required suggestions and guidance for administration and public welfare.

Objective :

The intensive implementation of the Labour Laws and maintaining and improving Industrial Peace by taking conciliatory stand, to give weightage on the needs of the Unorganized Sector, to keep Industrial Safety and to provide employment by creating good opportunities for skill development.

Motives :

To maintain steady & peaceful industrial relations.

Implementation of the Labour Laws as industries don’t get harassed and in the interest of the workers.

To create structure of e-Governance as industries get co-operation and facilities.

To make skills firm by improving the quality of the training.

.

To encourage the participation of public and private industries in the management of the Industrial Training Institutes.

To provide employment services to the employers.
