Defined Standards of Execution of Work

Chapter - 15
The details of the standards defined by the Department to undertake different activities / programs are as under.
Policies, Rules and Programs for the matters related to the Labour Welfare, Employment, Training and Human Empowerment by the Department. Welfare Measures are taken and Programs for Employment Creation for workers are also prepared. Under the control of this Department (1) Labour Commissioner, Gujarat State, Ahmedabad (2) Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Gujarat State, Ahmedabad (3) Rural Labour Commissioner, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar (4) Director, Employment & Training, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and the following Boards are constituted under the administrative control of the Department to help in development of the activities of the Department :
1. The Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, Ahmedabad
2. The Gujarat Rural Workers Welfare Board, Gandhinagar
3. The Ahmedabad Cloth Markets & Shops Labour Board, Ahmedabad
4. The State Contract Labour Advisory Board, Ahmedabad
5. The Minimum Wages Advisory Board, Ahmedabad
6. Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute (Autonomous Body), Ahmedabad
The Labour Commissioner
Improvement of job safety of the workers and effective implementation of the different Labour Laws as to benefit the workers under the Labour Laws, timely and effective intervention to avoid and prevent Strikes, Lockouts, Detention, etc. events of labour circumstances.

Chief Inspector, Steam Boilers and Smoke Nuisance and his subordinate Boiler Inspectors implement the Indian Boiler Act and the Act of Smoke Nuisance and its subsidiary Rules.
The Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Ahmedabad
Director, Industrial Safety and Health enforces the laws of his jurisdiction. Mainly the functions related to the effective implementation of the Factories Act, the Payment of Wages Act, the Maternity Benefit Act and the Building & Other Construction Workers Act, 1996.
