THE SCHEME OF STATE
GOVERNMENT "SHRAM AWARD"

Vide
Labour and Employment notification dtaed 4-2-89 State of Gujarat
has introduced a scheme to encourage and recognise innovative
work done by industrial workman in the field of production,
productivity , Industrial peace, presence of mind, and steps
taken by the workman to save the life and limbs of fellow
workers and property of the public at large , of the affected
area in the event of any calamity/emergency and also any special
work done for the welfare of worker. The scheme is being implemented
by commissioner of Labour (Factory Wing) Ahmedabad.

The
total number of awards in a year would be sixteen. Awards
indicated at Sr.No. 1,2,& 3 will be given to selected
candidates from the total no. of applications received from
various types of industries, where as award indicated at Sr.
No.4 is given from the applications received from Textile
Industries, Engineering Industries, Chemical Industries and
remaining miscellaneous types of Industries.

Awardees would also receive a certificate
of recognition , apart from the cash prizes as above.
|
|
|
A committee headed by Labour Secretary,
will scrutinize the applications and select the awareness.
|
|
|
Those applicant or management who
desires to participate in this scheme may apply in prescribed
form latest by 30th June to the concerned office of
Inspector of Factories or The Chief Inspectors of Factories,
Gujarat State,Ahmedabad.

| GUIDE LINES OF
SCHEME |
An
applicant should be workman as defined in Industrial
Dispute Act 1947 & working in Industrial Establishment
manufacturing activity as per section 2(k) of the
Factories Act 1948. Workman solely engaged in the
routine duties would not be eligible. Award will be
given to workman working in Industrial Establishments
who have a distinguished performance record, devotion
to duty of high order, specific contribution in the
filed of productivity, proven innovative abilities,
presence of mind and exceptional courage action taken
by workman to save life & property in the case
of emergency and his/her special efforts made for
welfare & achievement of Industrial peace.

Being the highest awrd will go to
a worker of really outstanding caliber.

Will be awarded to workers who have
made exceptional contribution in productivity /production
and have also shown innovative abilities of high order.

Will be awarded to workers who have
a continuos record of dedicated services and high order
of productivity.

SHRI/SHRAM DEVI : |
Will be awarded to workers who have
shown exceptional zeal and enthusiasms for work and

SELECTION COMMITTEE
A committee headed by Labour
Secretary, will select the awardee for the above mentioned
awards & after getting consent from selected applicants,
they would be informed to remain present at relevant time
and venue of the function to receive their award.

Note :
Distinguished work means :-
1) Indicate accurate statistics of increase in productivity
or production e.g. approximate value due to increase
in production of 50 Ton due to distinguished work
done.
2) Indicate accurate statistical information i.e.
No. of workers benefited in case of distinguished
work done for industrial peace.
3) Details of approximate persons effected due to
presence of mind applied & steps taken in the
event of any calamity /emergency.

PRIME MINISTER'S SHRAM
AWARDS - THE SCHEME
|
SCOPE
The awards will be presented
to the workmen (as defined in the Industrial Dispute Act,
1947 ) employed in the Department Undertakings of the Central
and State Government and Central and State Public Sector Undertakings
and engaged in manufacturing and productive processes and
whose performance is assessable. Workmen solely engaged in
routine service duties would not be eligible.

The award in the order of precedence
are SHRAM RATNA, SHRAM BHUSHAN, SHRAM VIR AND SHRAM SHRI /
SHRAM DEVI. The cash prize and the number of such awards in
a year would be as follows :-

While
the total number of awards in one year would be seventeen,
in case awards for any one or more categories are not being
given, these can be distributed among the other categories.
Besides the cash prize, awarded would also receive a 'SANAD'
from the prime Minister.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARDS -
SHRAM
RATNA, being the highest award will go to a worker
of really outstanding caliber.
SHRAM
BHUSHAN Will be awarded to workers who have made exceptional
contribution in productivity/production and have also shown
innovative abilities of high order.
SHRAM
VIR Will be awarded to workers who have a continuous
record of dedicated service and high order of productivity.
SHRAM
SHRI/SHRAM DEVI Will be awarded to workers who have
shown exceptional zeal and enthusiasm for work and have had
significant contribution towards productivity.
Awards will be given to workman
who have a distinguished record of performance, in the field
of duty of a high order, specific contribution in the field
of Productivity proven innovative abilities,presence of mind
and exceptional courage. The awards may be given to those
workmen also who have made supreme sacrifice of laying down
their lives in the conscientious discharge of their duties.
Adequate representation will be given to women and handicapped
workers who have made outstanding contribution in the areas
specified above.
PERIOD
The awards will be announced on the eve of INDEPENDENCE DAY,
every year.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AWARDS
Ministry of Labour invites recommendations
for grant of awards sometime in the beginning of every year.
The nominations are to be routed through the Administrative
Central Ministry / State Government alongwith their recommendations
so as to reach and Ministry of Labour latest by the 30th APRIL,
2001 accompanied with full citation, containing the personal
particulars of the individuals recommended and highlighting
also the achievements of the workmen which merit conferment
of an award of such repute as are Prime Minister's Shram Awards.
