Activities :-

The activities are conducted mainly through the media of labour welfare center which is situated in the labour localities. The Board is conducting 53 Labour Welfare Centers spread over in 26 industrial towns of the Sate. Besides these 53 Labour Welfare Centers the other main activities are as under :-

Besides, there is also provision in the Act grant-in-aid to workers institution which are working for the welfare of workers. Grant-in-aid to the extent of 75% of the expdr. Incurred by such institutions on approved activities is given.

The activities provided for the Labour and their dependents further be grouped as follows :-

    (a)Community and social education including subsidiary occupation, home industries and         training in alternative occupation.

    (b)Games and sports, home nursing, first aid, excursions, tours and holiday homes.

    (c)Entertainment and other recreations.

These activities can further be divided into following 3 sub groups:-

    (1)Children between the age group of 2 1/2 to 6 years.

    (2)For women and girls

    (3)For men and boys.

  The timings at the Centers are arranged so as suit workers, working in different shifts in mills and factories for whom the centers are opened in morning from 8-0 to 11-30 and in the evening from 4-30 to 9-00 p.m. For children, women and girls the centers are opened between 12-0 to 4-0 p.m. Thus, the centers serve its members right from 8-0 p.m. In night.

  There is specific chart of activities which is generally followed at these centers with little variations to suit local needs and surrounding conditions for the center and the trend of workers living there. All centers are generally equipped with all materials required for the activities. Trained and experienced staff is also provided at each center. The activities at the center serve dual purpose firstly providing healthy entertainment and recreation to them during their leisure hours which also keep them away from social evils like drinking, gambling, etc. and secondly foster among them the spirit of co-operation and team work through games, sports and recreation and thereby enable them to raise their standard of living and stand equal among other people.
